Gotye, born Wouter De Backer on May 21, 1980, in Bruges, Belgium, is a Belgian-Australian musician known for his eclectic style encompassing indie pop, alternative rock, and experimental music. Moving to Australia as a child, he developed his musical talents and gained international fame with the hit "Somebody That I Used to Know."
