TOOL

About

Few bands have ever demanded more from their audience—or rewarded that devotion more completely. Erupting from the 1990s Los Angeles scene, TOOL quickly shed any grunge-adjacent skin to build something heavier, stranger, and far more intricate. This is a total project, a fusion of Danny Carey’s sacred geometry-fueled drumming, Adam Jones’s heavy, cinematic guitar, and Maynard James Keenan’s lyrical interrogations, all locked together by Justin Chancellor’s serpentine basslines. From the visceral gut-punch of Ænima to the cosmic scale of their later work, their music is inseparable from Jones’s own hallucinatory stop-motion videos and Alex Grey’s iconic artwork. They don’t write singles; they build dense, multi-layered tools for transcendence.
