72 Rats

72 Rats is a post-punk and new wave-influenced indie rock artist based near Seattle. They also release experimental and noisy material under the name grahamcrackerbox, which they describe as "a playground for anything I come up with". Their influences include Talking Heads, R.E.M., Joy Division, The Replacements, and Sonic Youth, which they say are "all pulled in from different directions to make something a little different". In 2024, their five-song EP "nothing left to lose," recorded with collaborators at Peel Studios, reached #162 on the college radio charts. As of 2026, 72 Rats is documenting the creation of a new album, "It All Burns Down Someday," on Substack, which will feature six songs about accepting impermanence and choosing to live fully.
