Claude Debussy

Achille-Claude Debussy (1862–1918) was a French composer born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. He began his studies at the Paris Conservatory at age ten. While he is often associated with musical Impressionism, it was a label he rejected. Debussy is considered an influential composer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His major works include the orchestral pieces Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune and La mer, the opera Pelléas et Mélisande, and numerous piano compositions, such as the Suite bergamasque, which contains the movement "Clair de lune."
