Meshuggah

Meshuggah is a Swedish extreme metal band formed in Umeå in 1987. The band's lineup, consistent since 2004, includes vocalist Jens Kidman, guitarists Fredrik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström, drummer Tomas Haake, and bassist Dick Lövgren. Meshuggah is known for a technically complex musical style featuring polymetered song structures and polyrhythms. Their 1995 album, Destroy Erase Improve, drew international attention, and since their 2002 album Nothing, the band has utilized downtuned eight-string guitars. Meshuggah has received nominations for Swedish Grammis Awards and a U.S. Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance" for their song "Clockworks" in 2018.
