Lou Reed

Lou Reed was an American musician, songwriter, and guitarist from New York. He was the primary singer and songwriter for the rock band The Velvet Underground, which formed in the 1960s. Following his work with the band, Reed began a solo career that spanned five decades and included the 1972 album Transformer, produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson. His other releases included Songs for Drella, a 1990 collaboration with former bandmate John Cale, and the 2011 album Lulu with Metallica. Reed was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Velvet Underground in 1996 and as a solo artist in 2015.
