Tomoko Aran

Tomoko Aran is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Hirosaki, known for her work in the City Pop genre. Between 1981 and 1990, she released nine albums on labels including Warner Pioneer and CBS/Sony. Her 1983 album, Fuyū Kūkan, features the track "Midnight Pretenders," which was later sampled by The Weeknd. In addition to her solo material, Aran has written lyrics for other artists, including B'z and TUBE, and was formerly a member of the group Nagisa no All-Stars. Born Tomoko Yoshiura, she began her career as a lyricist in the late 1970s.
