Ben Watt
About
The thirty-one years between Ben Watt’s first and second solo albums tell a story few artists could script. Most know him as the quiet architect of Everything But The Girl, steering their sound with Tracey Thorn from jangly Cherry Red singles to the worldwide gloss of "Missing." But when that project paused, Watt didn’t retreat; he dove headfirst into London's deep house scene, launching the revered Buzzin' Fly label and becoming a respected DJ. His eventual return to songwriting with 2014’s Hendra wasn’t a comeback, but a deliberate continuation, enlisting Suede’s Bernard Butler to build a sound rich with lived experience. It’s the long game of a true lifer.
