Mos Def, born Dante Terrell Smith on December 11, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York, is a prominent figure in east coast and old school hip hop. He began his music career in the early 1990s as part of the group Urban Thermo Dynamics and gained wider recognition with his work in Black Star alongside Talib Kweli. Known for his socially conscious lyrics, Mos Def’s top track is "Ms. Fat Booty." He continues to influence hip hop today.
