About

Few artists have ever made machines sound so alive—or so alien—as Autechre. Rochdale duo Rob Brown and Sean Booth were keystones of Warp Records’ original 1990s 'Artificial Intelligence' guard, but while their peers explored the ambient warmth of the new electronica, Autechre turned inward, chasing the ghost in the machine. Their sound, built on generative algorithms and custom software patches, cracked open rhythm and melody, leaving behind fractured, complex structures that feel less composed than grown. From the skeletal hip-hop of 1995’s Tri Repetae to the sprawling data dumps of the NTS Sessions, their work isn’t just a listening experience; it's an autopsy of sound itself.
