Some kids inherit their dad's record collection; Carter Ace inherited the whole damn rhythm section. The son of a musician who logged time with LA funk-punk legends The BusBoys and Fishbone, Ace absorbed that manic, pocket-tight energy growing up in South Central. But he re-wires that DNA, channeling it into jittery, self-aware anthems for the chronically overthinking. He builds the tracks himself, and you can hear it in the frantic drumming and elastic basslines of songs like “I Think I’m Normal”—it’s the sound of a mind racing over a groove that won’t quit.
